Karavan is a courtyard off Kazinczy utca, just next to Szimpla Kert, filled with a rotating collection of food trucks and small stands. It is the most accessible and reliably good street food spot in the city. The mix changes but you can usually find lángos, burgers, kürtőskalács (chimney cake), and various grilled meats alongside more inventive options that come and go with the seasons.
The courtyard has outdoor seating and is a good place to eat cheaply in the Jewish Quarter without having to choose between mediocre sit-down restaurants. Evening is the best time — the atmosphere picks up, Szimpla next door fills, and the whole block becomes one of the more genuinely enjoyable parts of Budapest for a casual night out. There is usually a short queue for the most popular trucks, but it moves fast.
