Komárom Thermal Baths

A modest spa complex on the Hungarian side of the river, fed by a deep thermal aquifer with water rich in sulphur and other minerals. The site has several indoor and outdoor pools at different temperatures, a sauna world, and a small wellness section.

Popular with locals year-round, and a useful way to spend a winter afternoon when the forts feel cold. Entry is cheap by Western European standards. The crowds peak at weekends; weekdays are quieter.

A story
The thermal water emerges at the bath at 62 degrees Celsius, drawn from a borehole more than 1,200 metres deep. The mineral content is unusually high in sulphur, which is why the air at the baths has a faintly eggy edge.
