Crawford Art Gallery

Ireland's national gallery for the south, in the eighteenth-century Cork Custom House just off St Patrick's Street. The collection is strong on Irish art from the eighteenth century to the present — Daniel Maclise, John Lavery, Jack B. Yeats, Sean Scully, Eileen Gray — and includes a wing devoted to Greek and Roman sculpture casts from the Vatican collections.

Admission is free. The on-site Crawford Café in a converted boardroom is one of the best lunch spots in the centre. The gallery closes for refurbishment in some years — check ahead.
