The Millennium Bridge is a slender pedestrian suspension bridge opened in 1999 to mark the turn of the century. Its clean modern lines stand in deliberate contrast to the ornate Ha'penny Bridge a short distance downstream, and it offers good views along the Liffey in both directions — toward the Four Courts to the west and the Custom House to the east.
The bridge connects the north quays near Ormond Quay with the south side of Temple Bar, making it a useful crossing as well as a pleasant riverside walk.
