Palazzo de' Mayo is one of the grand civil buildings on Corso Marrucino, a late-Baroque palace whose pale facade and formal courtyard show the polished side of old Chieti. It has been restored as a cultural venue, with museum rooms, temporary exhibitions, and spaces linked to the city’s modern art and foundation collections.
It is not the first stop in Chieti if you have only an hour; the archaeological museum and the Roman remains carry more weight. But if you are already walking the centre, the palace helps explain why Corso Marrucino feels more like an old provincial capital than a simple hill-town street.
