Roman Temples

Three small first-century temples preserved in the old centre, sometimes called the Templi Romani

Three small Roman temples sit in a row in the old centre, often locally just called the Templi Romani. Built in the first century AD, they were probably part of a single sanctuary dedicated to the Capitoline triad — Jupiter, Juno and Minerva — and form one of the best-preserved Roman temple groups in the region.

The surrounding piazza was reorganised in the 1930s to put the temples on display, and the brickwork of the inner cellae is remarkably intact. The site is open-air and free to walk around; combine with the nearby theatre and thermal baths.
