The most famous pizzeria in Naples, open since 1870. Serves two pizzas only: margherita (tomato, mozzarella, basil) and marinara (tomato, garlic, oregano, no cheese). The logic is that perfecting two things is worth more than offering fifty mediocre ones. Featured in Eat Pray Love and consequently extremely popular with visitors, but the pizza remains genuinely excellent.
Expect a queue — arrive before 11:30 or after 14:00 to minimise the wait. Cash only. The margherita with doppio (double) mozzarella is the correct order.
