Sorrento has good aperitivo culture, particularly in the streets behind Piazza Tasso. Limoncello is the local drink — made from the large Sorrento lemons grown on the hillsides above the town. The cheap souvenir-shop versions are worth avoiding; the bars and delis in the old town stock the real thing.
Fauno Bar (Piazza Tasso 1). Right on the main square — the most prominent café in town, reliable for coffee and people-watching despite the location markup.
Bar Ercolano (Piazza Tasso 22). Another square-side café, slightly quieter than Fauno. The granite di limone (lemon granita) is excellent on a hot afternoon.
Gelateria Primavera (Corso Italia 142). Good gelato a few streets back from the main tourist drag, with locally sourced flavours including fig and walnut.
