Getting There

Reggio Emilia has two railway connections. The old Reggio Emilia station on Piazza Martiri del 7 Luglio is served by regional and intercity trains on the Bologna–Milan line, putting the city roughly 35 minutes from Bologna and 90 minutes from Milan by fast regional services. The Reggio Emilia Mediopadana station, about 5 kilometres north of the centre, is served by the Frecciarossa and Italo high-speed trains but is not particularly convenient unless you are arriving from Rome or Naples.

The nearest airports are Bologna Guglielmo Marconi, about 55 kilometres to the east, and Milan Malpensa or Linate, each around 150 kilometres to the north. Bologna airport is better connected by public transport to Reggio Emilia. By car, the A1 motorway passes north of the city.
