The Camogli Molo Esterno lighthouse stands at the tip of the outer breakwater, a small red tower that marks the entrance to the harbour. Walking out along the breakwater is one of the simplest pleasures Camogli has to offer — the views back to the painted houses, the Castello della Dragonara, and the Basilica are excellent from here, and on the other side you look across open water to the Monte di Portofino headland.
The walk along the mole takes about ten minutes and is suitable for all ages and conditions except in rough seas, when spray washes across the concrete. Early morning and early evening are the best times, when the light catches the coloured facades at its most dramatic angle. The lighthouse itself is active and not open to visitors, but the external walkway is public.
