Things to Do

Camogli's pleasures are compact and centred on its harbour and the surrounding headland. The waterfront is the obvious starting point — the stack of tall, brightly painted palazzi reflected in the water is one of the most-photographed scenes in Liguria, and deservedly so. Behind the harbour, the medieval borgo climbs steeply up to the Castello della Dragonara, and a boat from the pier can ferry you to San Fruttuoso, one of the most atmospheric abbeys on the Italian coast.

The Portofino Regional Natural Park begins just outside town, and the trail network over the Monte di Portofino headland is exceptional. The path to San Fruttuoso on foot takes around two hours through Mediterranean scrub and olive groves; the longer route to Portofino takes half a day.
