Lungomare

The Lungomare Giacomo Devoto is the broad promenade that runs along Chiavari's seafront, backed by a row of palms and pines and facing the Tigullio Gulf. It is a pleasant walk of about two kilometres from the town centre to the river mouth of the Entella, with views across the bay toward Lavagna on the eastern side and the Portofino headland in the distance to the west.

The beach is accessible all along the Lungomare, alternating between equipped lidos and free public sections. In the evenings the promenade is the preferred venue for the Ligurian passeggiata — a slow back-and-forth walk that is as much a social ritual as exercise. The seafront restaurants are generally overpriced, but a drink at one of the bars with a view of the bay is a reasonable way to spend a Ligurian afternoon.
