Sentiero Azzurro

The Blue Trail (Sentiero Azzurro) is the most famous walking path in the Cinque Terre, linking all five villages in a series of cliff-hugging sections above the sea. The section between Corniglia and Vernazza to the north is one of the most rewarding — about 90 minutes of walking through maquis, past vineyards and olive groves, with constant views of the coast below.

The path from Corniglia south to Manarola is longer and more strenuous, dropping to sea level before climbing again. Entry to the sections within the national park requires a Cinque Terre Card, sold at park offices and most stations. Trail conditions vary by season; the path between Monterosso and Vernazza is particularly susceptible to storm damage and may be closed. Check with the park before setting out.
