Castello di Brescia

Venetian hilltop fortress with sweeping Alpine views

A massive Venetian-era fortress on Cidneo hill just north of the historic centre, reached in ten minutes on foot via a steep lane. The keep and ramparts now contain the city's Arms Museum and an astronomical observatory, but most people come simply for the view — out over Brescia's red-tile roofs to the Po plain and the distant snow peaks of the Alps.
