A remarkable 11th-century circular cathedral — one of very few Romanesque rotundas in Italy — built over the ruins of an earlier basilica whose mosaics are still visible below the modern floor. Dark, massive, and quiet, with paintings by Moretto and Romanino inside. Sits incongruously in the shadow of its 17th-century baroque replacement, the Duomo Nuovo, next door.
