Parco del Conero

The Conero headland, a limestone promontory rising abruptly from the flat Adriatic coast, is the undisputed reason to linger around Ancona. The park protects the cliffs, scrub, and woodland above secluded beaches that are among the best on Italy's Adriatic coast — clear water, white pebbles, and dramatic white cliffs above. Hiking trails cross the headland and drop to beaches like Portonovo (accessible by road) and the Due Sorelle (boat or steep descent only). The park is also good for birdwatching during spring and autumn migration.
