Ancona's municipal art gallery holds a well-curated collection that punches above its weight for a regional museum. The highlights are Titian's large Apparition of the Virgin to a Senator and Lorenzo Lotto's Assumption of the Virgin — both painters were active along the Adriatic coast, and Ancona was an important patron.
