Termoli has a textbook Adriatic climate: hot summers, mild winters, and a long shoulder season. June and September are the best months — water warm enough to swim, beaches uncrowded, restaurants relaxed. July and August see the town packed with Italian holidaymakers, especially the first three weeks of August.
The festival of San Basso (4 August) is the town's biggest event: the silver statue of the patron saint is carried out to sea on a flotilla of fishing boats and blessed before being returned to the cathedral. The Festival del Mare in late July fills the lungomare with food stalls and live music. Winter is quiet and many seasonal businesses close, but the borgo is atmospheric in a damp, foggy way and the trains are still frequent.
