Brindisi's bar culture is firmly southern Italian: coffee is taken standing at the counter, fast and without apology, and the afternoon passeggiata ends at a gelateria or a bar for aperitivo. The main concentration of cafes and bars is around Piazza Cairoli and the Corso Umberto I, with a second cluster near the waterfront that caters mainly to the ferry crowd.
