Corso Vittorio Emanuele

The Corso Vittorio Emanuele is Lipari town's main pedestrian street, running from the harbour up toward the castle rock. It is the place to wander in the early evening for passeggiata: small shops selling capers, Malvasia, and salted ricotta; bars with tables on the street; jewellers selling silver and obsidian.

The street is the social spine of the town. Cafes here are slightly cheaper than those on Marina Corta, and breakfast at one of them — a granita with brioche, the Sicilian way — is the right way to start a day.
