The castle on its rock dominates the town and holds the islands' best museum. Beyond the centre, ring the coast for beaches at Canneto and the pumice quarry strand at Porticello, climb Monte Sant'Angelo for the panorama, and take a boat round the island to see the cliffs from the water.
