By air. The nearest airport is Pisa Galileo Galilei (PSA), about 25 km south. From there, direct trains to Viareggio take around 20–25 minutes and run frequently. Florence Peretola (FLR) is also served by international flights; from Florence, trains to Viareggio take about an hour.
By train. Viareggio railway station sits on the Genoa–Pisa line, one of the main coastal routes of northern Tuscany. Direct trains connect Viareggio to Pisa (20 min), La Spezia (45 min), Lucca (20 min), and Florence (1 hr–1 hr 20 min). The station is about 700 m east of the beach — a walkable distance with luggage.
By car. The A11 motorway (Firenze–Mare) connects Florence to Viareggio in about an hour. Parking in high summer can be difficult and expensive close to the beach; there are larger, cheaper car parks a short walk from the promenade.
By bus. Regional Vaibus services connect Viareggio to Lucca, Pisa, and other Versilian towns. Useful as a supplement to the train but slower.
