The Viareggio Diga Foranea Lighthouse stands at the end of the southern harbour breakwater, marking the entrance to the port channel. An active navigational light, it is a good destination for a walk along the breakwater if you want to get away from the beach crowds and see the working port from a different angle. The views back across the town and north to the Apuan Alps are particularly good in clear weather.
