Gubbio has no train station of its own — the nearest is Fossato di Vico-Gubbio on the Ancona–Rome line, 19 km away, with a bus connection (line E001) into town that meets the trains. From Rome the total journey is about three hours.
The most useful approach for most travellers is to drive or take a bus from Perugia (40 km, 70 minutes by car or 75 minutes by bus). Umbria International Airport at Perugia–Sant'Egidio is the nearest airport; Rome Fiumicino and Florence are both around 2.5 hours by road. The town centre is closed to traffic — leave the car at the Parcheggio Funivia by the cable car or at one of the lots outside the walls.
