Roman Theatre

1st-century BC theatre still hosting summer performances

A well-preserved 1st-century BC theatre at the foot of the historic centre, set in a small park where the grass grows between the ancient stones. It seated around 6,000 and is still used for summer performances. A reminder that before the medieval commune, Gubbio was the prosperous Roman town of Iguvium. The adjacent museum (Antiquarium) holds sculpture and artefacts from the Roman period.
