The Torre del Moro is a medieval tower at the intersection of Corso Cavour and Via del Duomo, the main crossroads of central Orvieto. At around 47 metres, it is one of the tallest structures in the old town and houses a large 20th-century clock. You can climb to the top for panoramic views over the rooftops and out to the surrounding valleys and countryside.
The tower dates from the 13th century and was built by the city as a symbol of civic authority. The climb involves a narrow spiral staircase; the views from the top are the best in Orvieto after the Duomo facade. Entry is ticketed and modest in price.
