Getting There

Aosta sits at the end of a single railway line that connects to Turin via Ivrea. The journey from Turin takes around two hours by regional train; there are no high-speed services and no direct international rail connections, but the valley line is scenic and reliable. From the station the centre is a short walk.

By road, the A5 motorway runs south to Turin (about 110 km) and connects at the Italian end to the Mont Blanc Tunnel for France and the Gran San Bernardo Tunnel for Switzerland. Both tunnels carry tolls. The SS26 runs the length of the valley as a free alternative to the motorway. Bus services connect Aosta to Turin's Porta Nuova station and to the resorts and villages up the valley. The nearest international airports with regular connections are Turin (Caselle), Geneva, and Milan Malpensa — all roughly 2–3 hours by road.
