Bars and Cafes

Caffé Dante on Piazza dei Signori is one of the city's oldest cafes, in a fine Renaissance setting — predictably tourist-oriented but atmospheric. Bottega dei Vini, on a lane off Via Mazzini, is the city's classic wine bar: a serious list with hundreds of Veneto and Italian labels, good bar snacks, and a clientele of local regulars alongside visitors. Osteria del Bugiardo on Corso Porta Borsari is livelier and younger, with good aperitivo and a long Valpolicella list. Piazza Erbe in the evenings fills with Veronese students; the bars around its edges are the least expensive in the centre.
