Verona's sights are concentrated in the medieval centre within the bend of the Adige. The Arena and Piazza Erbe are the obvious starting points, but the city rewards slower exploration: Romanesque churches, Scaliger tombs, and quiet riverside walks fill a full two days comfortably. Opera season (late June to late August) transforms the city — performances in the Arena are an experience, but book well in advance and expect high prices.
