Ethnographic Museum

The Ethnographic Museum in Gjakova occupies a traditional Albanian stone house near the bazaar, with exhibits covering the material culture of the region — tools, clothing, household objects, and examples of traditional craftsmanship. The building itself is an exhibit: the architecture of the old Albanian family house (the kulla) is distinctive, with thick walls, high ceilings, and a courtyard plan adapted for both defence and daily life.

The collection is modest but well-presented, and the context it provides for understanding Albanian cultural traditions in Kosovo is useful before or after walking the bazaar. The staff are knowledgeable and often willing to explain details that are not covered in the display labels.
