Monument of Brotherhood and Unity

The Monument of Brotherhood and Unity is a Yugoslav-era memorial near Pristina's old bazaar, designed by Serbian sculptor Miodrag Zivkovic and built in 1959. Its abstract vertical forms reflect the socialist modernist language used across Yugoslavia for post-war monuments.

It is worth a look while walking between the bazaar, the Great Hammam, and the nearby mosques. The monument is also a useful reminder that Pristina's modern identity includes Ottoman, Yugoslav, and post-independence layers sitting close together.
