Central Vaduz is small enough to cover on foot — the entire pedestrianised core is barely 500 metres end to end, and the castle and Hofkellerei winery are both well within walking distance. For the rest of the country, LIEmobil runs a clockwork bus network across all eleven municipalities, with frequent services down the Rhine valley and up into the mountain villages of Triesenberg and Malbun. Day passes are cheap.
The country is also very bike-friendly. The Rhine cycle path (EuroVelo 6) runs the length of Liechtenstein on the levee a kilometre west of town, and rental bikes are available in Vaduz and Schaan. For the hike up to Schalun Castle or trails on the Rhätikon ridge, the buses to Triesenberg are the obvious starting point.
