Städtle

Pedestrianised main street through the centre of Vaduz

Städtle is the pedestrianised main street of Vaduz and the city's social spine. It runs for only a few hundred metres but packs in the cathedral, the Kunstmuseum, the National Museum, the Postmuseum, the government building, the tourist office and a half-dozen cafés. Walk it slowly.

The street is closed to traffic and lined with low modern buildings, mostly in dark glass and stone, that house Liechtenstein's outsized financial sector — private banks, trust companies, fiduciary firms. At the tourist office you can have your passport stamped with a Liechtenstein entry stamp for a small fee, a quirk left over from the days when very few people thought to ask.
