Ertlio Namas

Seasonal Lithuanian cooking in a restored old-town courtyard house

Ertlio Namas (the old house) occupies a restored 18th-century courtyard building on Šv. Jono Street, and its cooking takes a thoughtful approach to the Lithuanian seasonal calendar. The menu changes frequently and draws on what is available in Lithuanian markets — wild mushrooms in autumn, rhubarb and sorrel in spring, preserved and fermented ingredients through winter. The cooking is neither traditionally rustic nor aggressively modern but somewhere between, which suits the setting.

The courtyard is one of the most pleasant outdoor dining spaces in the old town during summer. The wine list is short but chosen with care. Prices are moderate for the quality. Šv. Jono St. 7.
