Getting Around

Gozo is small — roughly 14 km by 7 km — and most visitors get around by rental car, which is the most flexible option and not expensive. Cars can be rented in Victoria, at the Mġarr ferry terminal, or delivered to your hotel. Driving is on the left, as in the rest of Malta.

The public bus network is cheap and surprisingly comprehensive — almost every village has a service to Victoria, from which you can change to anywhere on the island. Routes can be slow, but Tallinja day passes work across both Malta and Gozo. Taxis and app-based rides (Bolt, eCabs) operate but coverage thins in rural areas. For shorter distances, the island lends itself well to cycling and walking — the coastal path loop around Gozo is a multi-day walking route that strings together most of the major sights.
