Gozo's beaches are small but varied. The two red-sand beaches — Ramla Bay and the harder-to-reach San Blas Bay — are the most photographed and the most popular. Both are shallow and family-friendly; San Blas is the quieter of the two thanks to a steep walk down to the sand.
For something different, Mġarr ix-Xini is a narrow pebble cove with crystal water and a single restaurant; Hondoq ir-Rummien, just past Qala on the east coast, is a small bay with views over to Comino and another tiny pebble beach. Most of Gozo's swimming, though, is off the rocks — almost any stretch of coast around Marsalforn, Xlendi, or Dwejra has a way down to clean, deep water.
