Orhei itself has a small handful of sights: the 16th-century St Dumitru Church in the centre, the local history museum on the main square, and a tree-lined park along the Răut River. Most travellers use the town as the staging point for the spectacular Orheiul Vechi cave monastery 18 km to the south, which is the real reason to come this way.
