Sveti Nikola Island

Uninhabited island off Budva with beaches and hiking, reached by water taxi

Sveti Nikola (also known locally as "Hawaii") is a small uninhabited island about 1 km off the coast of Budva, clearly visible from the old town and from Slovenska obala. Water taxis run from the Budva marina during summer months and take about 15 minutes. The island has several small beaches, including a nudist section, and paths through scrubby Mediterranean woodland from which you can see across to the mainland.

There is little infrastructure on the island — a small beach bar operates during the season, but bring water and snacks. The appeal is simple: clear water, some shade, and a degree of separation from the resort crowds on the mainland. It works well as a half-day trip from Budva, combined with a swim on the island's quieter eastern side.
