Budva's central position on the Montenegrin coast makes it a good base for day trips. Kotor is 30 km north, Cetinje — the old royal capital, set high in the mountains — is 35 km inland, and the iconic island village of Sveti Stefan and the village of Petrovac are within 15–30 minutes by car or bus. Boat tours through the Bay of Kotor run daily in summer, typically calling at Tivat, Herceg Novi, Our Lady of the Rocks near Perast, and Kotor — a good way to cover a lot of the bay without driving.
