Regional Museum

Local history and ethnography in an 18th-century baroque palace

The Regional Museum (Zavičajni muzej) occupies the Komnenović family palace just above the old town. The building itself — baroque, with a long stone balcony and a walled garden — is half the appeal. Inside, the collection covers everything from prehistoric finds in the Orjen caves to icons of the local Boka school and 19th-century maritime artefacts.

It's a small museum; an hour is enough. The garden has a few benches and is a quiet spot to escape the summer heat, with the bell-tower of the Archangel Michael church framed above the walls.
