Herceg Novi rewards walkers. The old town drops in tight stone stairways from the Kanli Kula fortress at the top down to the seafront promenade, and almost every notable sight is on one of those staircases or a short detour off it. Start at the Kanli Kula for the view, work your way down through Belavista Square and the Sahat Kula clock tower, then follow the Pet Danica promenade east along the bay. A half day handles the centre; another day takes in the Savina Monastery and the beaches at Igalo or Žanjic.
