Konoba Sidro

Konoba Sidro is a well-regarded traditional Montenegrin restaurant near the old quarter, with a menu built around the local staples: lamb and veal dishes slow-cooked under a peka (a bell-shaped lid buried in embers), fresh fish from Skadar Lake, and the thick corn porridge kačamak served with cheese and kajmak cream. The wine list leads with Vranac, Montenegro's signature red, which is fuller and earthier than most of its Balkan neighbours.

The atmosphere is relaxed and the portions are substantial. Reservations are useful on weekend evenings.
