Tivat Salt Pans

Protected salt-marsh reserve south of town, important for migratory birds

The Tivat Salt Pans, or Solila, are the surprise nature stop near town: shallow wetlands, old salt-working traces, reeds, and a rich birdlife that feels improbable so close to the airport road. They are protected as a special nature reserve.

Bring binoculars if you have them. The best visits are early or late in the day, when the light is low and the birds are more active; in midsummer the exposed paths can be hot.
