Amsterdam's favourite urban beach, relocated from its original temporary site to a permanent home on IJburg's Haveneiland. Blijburg aan Zee sits on an artificial sand beach along the IJmeer, with deck chairs, a sprawling wooden bar-restaurant, and a programme of live music and cultural events through the summer months. On hot days it fills up fast with sunbathers and swimmers. The vibe is laid-back and slightly bohemian. Food is decent and reasonably priced. Open roughly April through September, weather permitting.
