De Kas

A restaurant inside a restored 1926 municipal greenhouse in Frankendael Park, in the Watergraafsmeer neighbourhood east of the city centre. Much of what arrives on the plate was grown in the attached nursery beds — herbs, edible flowers, and whatever vegetables are at peak season that week. The set menu changes daily depending on the harvest.

The setting is unlike anywhere else in Amsterdam: high glass ceilings, long communal tables, and the smell of damp earth and growing things just a few metres away. Lunch is better value than dinner. Worth reserving well in advance, particularly in summer when the terrace opens.
