De Gooyer is the tall wooden windmill on the eastern side of central Amsterdam, rebuilt in its present form in 1814. It stands above the former city moat and is one of the easiest surviving Dutch windmills to see without leaving the city.
The windmill itself is not a long visit, but it pairs naturally with the neighbouring Brouwerij 't IJ and a walk through Oost or the Eastern Docklands.
