Apeldoorn is not a destination for high-end dining within the city itself, but a small cluster of good restaurants has emerged around the Caterplein and the southern end of the Hoofdstraat — terraces, brasseries, a couple of Italian places, and a steady rotation of new openings.
For the real cooking the answer is the Veluwe. The classic outing is dinner at De Echoput, a long-established hunting-lodge restaurant on the Amersfoortseweg west of town that has held a Michelin star for most of its existence and specialises in seasonal game. Closer to the centre, Twenty2 at Het Saksen Weimar Hotel and a handful of brasseries on the Stationsplein are dependable.
