Restaurant Fanfare

Canalside brasserie at the south end of the Binnenpad — terrace over the water, solid Dutch cooking

Fanfare sits at the southern entry point of the Binnenpad canal path, with a terrace that extends over the water and a view straight into the heart of the old village. It is one of the better dining options in Giethoorn proper — a brasserie rather than a tourist pancake house, with a menu that covers Dutch staples (bitterballen, stamppot, fish) alongside a few more ambitious plates. The canal terrace fills up quickly on fine-weather days; worth arriving early or booking ahead if you want a table outside.

The location makes it a natural start or end point for a Binnenpad walk: have lunch here before heading north into the village, or stop for a drink after the main sightseeing push. The interior is warm and well-suited to grey-weather visits. Service is generally relaxed, which fits the pace of the village — nobody is in a rush here.
