Eating Out

Giethoorn's dining options are mostly functional rather than exciting — pancake houses, canal-side sandwich cafes, and a few Dutch lunch spots serving soup and stamppot to day-trippers. Most places operate on a limited seasonal schedule and close or reduce hours in winter. The exception is De Lindenhof, which is in an entirely different category: a two-Michelin-star restaurant that has been drawing serious food travelers to this unlikely village for years. If you are planning a visit and have any interest in fine dining, book De Lindenhof well in advance — it is one of the best-regarded kitchens in the Netherlands.
