Getting around

Groningen is famously the most bike-friendly city in the Netherlands — over 60% of trips are made by bicycle. The centre is small enough to walk across in 15 minutes, but a rented bike opens up the canals, the parks, and the surrounding villages. Several shops near the central station rent by the day.

City buses are run by Qbuzz and cover the wider area with an OV-chipkaart. Cars are actively discouraged in the centre, with a circulation plan that prevents driving straight through — parking is on the outskirts at P+R lots, connected to the centre by free shuttle bus.
